NOTICE OF RACE

GENERAL:
This 1-day regatta is hosted by the John Callahan Memorial Sailing Fund, Inc. and the Bay Head Yacht Club
OA. The regatta is open to “A” Catboats, M-15, “MC” Scows, Sanderlings and Sandpipers belonging to and
sailed by members of BBYRA affiliated yacht clubs and invited guests.
1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing for 2021-2024 and
the US Sailing Prescriptions.
1.2 Class Rules shall apply where applicable. This is not a class sanctioned event.
1.3 The Sailing Instructions may also change some racing rules.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 Classes-The Regatta is open to boats of the A-Cat, Sandpiper, Sanderling, MC-Scow and M-15 Classes
belonging to and sailed by members of BBYRA affiliated yacht clubs and invited guests.
2.2 Registration- Eligible boats may enter by registering Online:(register at /http://www.callahanregatta.org/

3. FEES
3.1 A suggested donation of $50.00 to the Callahan Fund through the Community Foundation of NJ. See link
above.

4. SCHEDULE
4.1 Friday July 22, 2022
Harbor Gun – 11:00
Start on River – 12:00
Awards following the racing – on the Orlup Deck
4.2 One race constitutes a regatta, however 3 or more maybe sailed at the discretion of the PRO.

5. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS AND ON THE WATER CHECK-IN
5.1 The sailing instructions will be available online http://www.callahanregatta.org/
5.2 ALL BOATS MUST IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AND CHECK -IN WITH THE RACE COMMITTEE ON
THE WATER.

6. VENUE
6.1Races will be conducted on the Barnegat Bay North of the Mantoloking Bridge and in the Metedeconk River.

7. THE COURSES
7.1 Courses for each fleet will be attached to the Sailing Instructions.

8 SCORING
. 8.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a regatta.
8.2 Scores will be posted at BHYC.

9 SAFTEY/ CLASS RULES
9.1 – All yachts shall carry the safety equipment required by National, State, Local, applicable
Class Association rules and/or regulations, and these sailing instructions.
9.2 – Boats are subject to inspection for all safety equipment as per local class rules.

10 RADIO COMMUNICATION
10.1 Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not
receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.

11 PRIZES
11.1 Prizes will be awarded for each class.

12. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
12.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing
authority and regatta affiliates will not accept any liability for material damage, illness or personal injury or death
sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
12.2 NJ COVID-19 recommended protocols will be in place for this event.
